Flooring Installation Terms

Last Updated: June 2026

These Flooring Installation Terms form part of the Terms & Conditions of A.G. Carpet & Flooring Ltd and apply to all flooring supply and installation work.

The purpose of these terms is to ensure customers understand the preparation, access requirements and conditions that may affect flooring installations.

Site Access

Customers must provide safe and reasonable access to the installation area.

The working area should be clear and accessible before installation begins.

Delays caused by restricted access may result in additional charges or rescheduling.

Furniture & Room Preparation

Unless otherwise agreed, customers are responsible for removing:

  • Furniture

  • Personal belongings

  • Electrical items

  • Fragile items

  • Valuable possessions

from the installation area prior to our arrival.

Additional charges may apply where furniture moving services are requested.

Existing Flooring Removal

Where included within the quotation, existing flooring may be removed prior to installation.

During removal it is possible that hidden issues may be discovered, including:

  • Damaged subfloors

  • Uneven surfaces

  • Moisture issues

  • Old adhesive residue

  • Structural defects

These issues may require additional preparation work before installation can proceed.

Subfloor Preparation

The quality of the finished floor depends heavily on the condition of the subfloor.

Additional preparation may be required where:

  • Floors are uneven

  • Existing damage is present

  • Dampness is detected

  • Adhesive contamination exists

  • Structural movement has occurred

Any additional preparation work required will be discussed before proceeding where possible.

Moisture & Dampness

Flooring should only be installed onto suitable substrates.

Where excessive moisture, dampness or water ingress is identified, installation may need to be delayed until the issue is resolved.

A.G. Carpet & Flooring Ltd cannot accept responsibility for flooring failures caused by:

  • Rising damp

  • Water ingress

  • Plumbing leaks

  • Flooding

  • Excessive moisture within the subfloor

Acclimatisation Of Flooring Materials

Certain flooring products require acclimatisation prior to installation.

Where required, materials may need to remain on-site for a period before fitting begins.

This helps ensure correct performance and reduces the risk of movement after installation.

Product Variations

Natural variations may occur between:

  • Samples

  • Product batches

  • Colour shades

  • Patterns

  • Textures

These variations are considered normal and do not constitute a manufacturing defect.

Customers should inspect products before installation where possible.

Installation Environment

Suitable environmental conditions should be maintained before, during and after installation.

This includes:

  • Appropriate temperature levels

  • Adequate ventilation

  • Suitable humidity levels

Failure to maintain suitable conditions may affect flooring performance.

Door Clearances & Trimming

Some flooring installations may affect door clearances.

Additional work may be required to:

  • Trim doors

  • Adjust thresholds

  • Modify transition areas

Unless specifically included within the quotation, such work may incur additional charges.

Skirting Boards & Finishing Details

Existing skirting boards may remain in place unless otherwise agreed.

Depending on the installation method, finishing may include:

  • Scotia trim

  • Beading

  • Threshold strips

  • Door bars

  • Edge trims

Products used will depend on the flooring selected and installation requirements.

Waste Removal

Where included within the quotation, flooring waste and installation debris will be removed from site.

If waste removal has not been included, disposal remains the customer's responsibility.

Completion & Inspection

Customers should inspect completed work as soon as reasonably possible.

Any concerns should be reported promptly following completion.

We will endeavour to resolve genuine installation issues within a reasonable timeframe.

Aftercare

Correct maintenance is important to maximise flooring lifespan.

Customers should follow:

  • Manufacturer cleaning recommendations

  • Maintenance guidance

  • Care instructions provided at handover

Failure to follow maintenance guidance may affect warranties and product performance.

Guarantees

Installation workmanship is covered by our workmanship guarantee.

Product warranties remain subject to the individual manufacturer's terms and conditions.

Guarantees do not cover:

  • Accidental damage

  • Water damage

  • Flooding

  • Structural movement

  • Improper maintenance

  • Excessive wear caused by misuse
